I was given a flyer. Concert in the kindergarten in the evening. Live Tibetan music. Free entry. Who could resist. There was only one musician. During the evening he wore three different costumes. He played to different Tibetan guitars, violin that you prop against your waist, flute and he sung a part of Lhamo (Tibetan opera).
Between the songs there was protibetan propaganda going on masked as charity. I know that: „We do not need to fight China. China is sick country. Sick of communism. We just need to wait. You do not have to fight the sick.“ and „We do not need our own state. You know, Tibet-Autonomous Region. We want the autonomy. Real one.“ These attitudes might be quite dangerous in case of China. On the other hand, they are well aware of their current situation: „Now we free here in India because Dalai Lama. But when Dalai Lama gone. We no longer free. Indian government will crack down.“ After that was „Ladakh is part of Tibet. India invaded Tibet and take part of it, take Ladakh. We do not mind. They can keep it.“ kind of funny.
And something about the music: „When we in Tibet, we do not know that song is only five or six minutes. In Tibet our songs never end. We play all day and all night. But we come to India and we realize that song only five or six minutes. So now we play five or six minutes only.“ And about the flute: „We in Tibet, we play to our animals when they feed. We provide music so they enjoy.“
