Shin Sekai and streets around it, behind the train tracks. The most dangerous in Japan some say. Many Osakans claim they would never step in that area. Guidebooks warn tourists to be careful. When this neighborhood in the south of the city was built in 1912 it was the bright new world, though. Shin Sekai. New World.

Shin-Imamiya railways station.
„Shin Sekai is famous because it has the Japan's largest homeless population. Many of them came from other parts of Japan,“ Riko from Osaka was explaining.
Blowfish above the main street. Fugu. The famous poisonous fish – if the chef is not careful when preparing it it will kill you. Tsutenkaku Tower in the background.
Drink in a can from vending machine is just 50 yen. Elsewhere in Japan 100 is lowcost already.

People flow like rivers along the paths, photograph blossoms and photograph themselves in front of blossoms. The ground aroud is covered with blue tarpaulin. Every spot where you can spread a blanket, every spot where you can sit, is taken. More
